Instructor Sara Pitz

Sara attended college at the Savannah College of Art and Design earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in 3D Animation. Currently she is enrolled in an academic program, Animation Mentor, where she is furthering her animation skills and networking in the animation industry.

Sara started fencing after twelve years of dancing, four of those years as a competitive dancer and two years teaching - tap, ballet and jazz. She was looking for something new to try and fencing was the perfect fit. She began fencing at the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2004. After attending two national tournaments, Sara was determined to compete more and learn as much as she could about this honorable sport.

Sara found the Omaha Fencing Club in the winter of 2007. She participated in the club whenever she was home on break. She studied under Patrick DeSimio and James Askew. In 2009, she became a member of the United States Fencing Coaches Association and passed her coach’s exam to become a Moniteur of Foil. Sara is an active member of the Omaha Fencing Club (OFC) and the Lincoln Fencing Club (LFC). She is currently studying under Kristian Anderson of LFC.

“I am excited to be coaching at the Omaha Fencing Club. To be able to share my knowledge and love of this sport has been a wonderful experience. The students are my constant inspiration. Seeing what they can achieve gives me the motivation to keep training and learning all that I can. That way I can pass it on to them.”
