Beginner (Introductory) Class
The beginner class is intended for new and novice students to learn the sport of fencing. The course is eight weeks long,
one hour practice a week. All safety equipment is provided for the student at each location. This includes a mask, under-arm
protector (plastron), protective jacket and glove. Students interested in purchasing their own gear can talk to their instructor
about retailer recommendations.
Students are expected to dress out in workout clothing. Long pants are required (track or sweat pants,
no shorts). Open-toed shoes are not allowed.
Over the eight week course, a new student will learn the basics of:
|
* The "On Guard" |

|
* Parries |
|

The beginner class is also a great place for returning students to practice their basic skills until they are comfortable
enough with the techniques to move to the advanced beginner or intermediate classes.
The intermediate class is currently held on:
- Tuesdays at 7:00pm at Brownell-Talbot.
- Fridays at 6:30pm at the Montclair community center
- Saturdays at 11:00pm at the Camelot community center
